As Partner of Smart Connections PR, Jo has not taken her foot off the gas since the company’s inception in early 2013. She oversees SCPR’s strategic focus across client and business development. Her vision of excellence can be seen in all that SCPR delivers – planning out strategy, always getting the interview, with results on time and as promised.
Jo’s coverage resume epitomizes client service excellence. Her expertise has brought SCPR’s clients in touch with esteemed business and financial publications such as Forbes, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Reuters and Dow Jones. Jo has particular experience in working closely with and providing corporate PR counsel to chief executive officers, resulting in regular coverage with top-tier media including CNBC’s Squawk Box, Bloomberg TV and Forbes and other leading business publications.
Previously a managing director of a PR agency, Joanne is keenly aware of how to leverage the full resources of the agency on the clients’ behalf. From developing campaigns for large corporate IT clients, start-ups navigating their first ventures, to small-business owners and professional authors, Jo’s PR experience is deep and nuanced; she knows how to write an engaging tweet and get on the phone with the media.
A native of the UK, Joanne has lived in the United States for the past 20 years with her husband and two sons.
Dina Grills Petrosky
Dina has almost 30 years’ experience in media and communications– as both a journalist and a public relations professional. She has worked with Joanne in PR since 1999, and has fond memories of Y2K and its less than catastrophic outcome.
Times have changed and PR moves faster than it ever has before. Dina works with clients and SCPR’s account teams to ensure client news is turned into actionable items for media and analysts. Dina spearheads award and speaking opportunity research to ensure clients receive the opportunities to share knowledge and the accolades of which they are worthy. She consults with clients on social media campaigns and has been known to write an irreverant hashtag or two.
Dina spent a decade in radio where she enjoyed stints as a news director, radio talk show host, and alternative rock disc jockey in the Providence metro market. Her news team received an Associated Press Enterprise News Award.
She is a member of The Public Relations Society of America and holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from The University of Rhode Island.
