Hi there! I’m Reese Skaggs, and I am excited to share that I have recently started working as an Account Executive here at Smart Connections PR.
After playing college football at Shepherd University, I decided to pursue a master’s in business administration at West Virginia Wesleyan College along with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. While in school at WVWC, I was fortunate to work as an intern for Smart Connections PR, where my communications career initially began. With very little experience, I was anxious to start my internship and learn more about this industry and what it has to offer. During these two years as an intern, I’ve gained valuable experience and knowledge in this industry that has supported me in the classroom and in my career.
During my last semester as a graduate student, my capstone presentation involved a business strategy game that simulated a fictional business in a saturated market. In the last five weeks of this simulation, my fictional business was ranked #1 in the world with the best overall performance score. Additionally, I am honored to share that I earned the “Outstanding 5 Year MBA Student” award and graduated magna cum laude in May of 2026. These accolades are a product of my internship here at SCPR, as I have been blessed to learn from tremendous leaders and team members who have shown me what thoughtful communication, organization, and strong client relationships look like in practice. Jo and Dina have been more than flexible in allowing me to work as an intern while completing my degrees. They have demonstrated the type of leadership that empowers young professionals to grow, ask questions, and take on meaningful responsibilities with purpose.
In my early days as an intern here at SCPR, I started with the basics of client work, and these fundamentals have been instrumental in my ability to see the “big picture” from an Account Executive perspective. From building media lists to researching industry trends, these various tasks have significantly contributed to my understanding of how thoughtful, personal, and consistent work can produce measurable results.
As I continue this new chapter, I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with ambitious team members who have invested in my development from day one. Smart Connections PR has played a key factor in shaping my professional career and perspective, and I look forward to building on that foundation where it all began in 2024.
